‘Godzilla Vs. Kong’ Director Talks Size Difference Between Monsters

Godzilla vs Kong will pit the latest versions of the classic movie monsters against each other in what many expect will be a chaotic brawl. In an interview with IGN, Adam Wingard discussed the upcoming film and addressed the size difference between the titular beasts.

Wingard discussed the film’s current stage of development and what he hopes to bring to the project:

“It’s been a pleasure already in the first stages of it, having an excuse to go back and watch 30 Godzilla movies and justifying it to yourself. For me, it’s about taking the series to the next level.”

With the latest version of Godzilla being considerably larger than the Kong depicted in Kong: Skull Island, Wingard discussed how the film might handle that potential problem:

“They gave us a good out in Kong when they mentioned that Kong is still growing, but that’ll be a challenge we have to deal with, and we’re very aware of that issue.”

Wingard also confirmed that Godzilla vs Kong is still scheduled for a 2020 release.

Before the King of the Monsters and King of the Apes face off, audiences will be treated to a sequel to Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla film.

The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.  When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

The film stars Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, Zhang Ziyi, Anthony Ramos, Ken Watanabe, Randy Havens, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Aisha Hinds, Thomas Middleditch, Bradley Whitford, Sally Hawkins, Elizabeth Ludlowand and Charles Dance.

Godzilla 2 will be released in theaters on March 22, 2019.
