‘Gotham’ Showrunner Says Finale Will ‘Somewhat Feel’ Like A Batman Pilot

During the Gotham panal at the television critics association press tour, showrunner John Stephens confirmed the final episode will feature a 10-year time jump and commented on how much Batman action there will be in the last hour.

Gotham is set to conclude this year and fans will finally get their first look at this incarnation of Batman, but some are worried the appearance will amount to little more than a cameo. However, showrunner and executive John Stephens confirmed Batman will be featured in more than one scene and noted that the time jump makes the series finale feel like a new pilot:

“He’s in the episode. He’s not just in a last scene. The last episode is one scene in the timeline of the rest of the season, and then the rest of the episode is in the future. It almost feels in a weird way like another pilot.”

Gotham continues next week with the episode titled “13 Stitches” and you can read the official synopsis below:

Gordon assembles an unlikely team to protect Gotham from Eduardo Dorrance (guest star Shane West) and his Delta Force. Just as Lee Thompkins resurfaces, Barbara reveals shocking news that will change Gordon’s life forever. Meanwhile, Selina and Penguin team up to outsmart fellow villain Magpie (guest star Sarah Schenkkan) in the all-new “13 Stitches” episode of GOTHAM airing Thursday, Feb. 14 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

Gotham stars Ben McKenzie as Detective James Gordon, Donal Logue as Detective Harvey Bullock, Morena Baccarin as Dr. Leslie Thompkins, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma/The Riddler, and Chris Chalk as Lucius Fox.

Gotham airs on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. on FOX.
