‘Gotham’ Promo Teases David Mazouz’s Batman Vs. Cameron Monaghan’s Joker

A new promo for the upcoming final episode of FOX’s Batman prequel series Gotham teases the fight between David Mazouz’s Batman and Cameron Monaghan’s Joker.

With the series coming to an end, Gotham will finally see David Mazouz don the Cape and Cowl as he takes up the mantle of Batman. In addition, Cameron Monaghan is also finally becoming The Joker. The series finale is set to feature a 10-year time jump that will feature older versions of its characters. The new promo offers us a glimpse at this, including David Mazouz’s Batman himself. It also teases the fight between David Mazouz’s Batman and Cameron Monaghan’s Joker in the episode.

Although both David Mazouz and Cameron Monaghan will be appearing as Batman and Joker respectively in the future timeline, Camren Bicondova who has played Selina Kyle/Catwoman since the series began back in 2014 will not be reprising her role in the series finale. Instead, she’ll be replaced by Lili Simmons who will portray Selina at an older age for the conclusion of Gotham.

David Mazouz’s Batman looks to be heavily inspired by the Batsuit in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy meanwhile Cameron Monaghan’s final Joker form appears to be inspired by his Earth-2 iteration which first appeared in Justice League Of America Annual Vol. 3 # 1 back in 2008.

In the comics, Earth-2 Joker is already an old version of himself. After he fought Batman for years, he allegedly killed the Caped Crusader. But even with his age and disabilities, he’s still fighting against Batman supporters like Robin and Huntress, which is Batman’s daughter Helena Wayne in this universe. Although it’s more likely we’ll see an early version of Cameron Monaghan’s Joker in Gotham, who’s just starting his feud with David Mazouz’s Batman, their looks are very similar.

The series flash-forwards 10 years into the future, as Bruce is set to return to Gotham for the opening of the new Wayne Tower. A series of crimes leads Gordon to believe Penguin and The Riddler are up to their old tricks. However, when Bullock is framed for a murder, Gordon begins to piece together an even more sinister plot targeting the city, and a new figure emerges from the shadows to be the hero Gotham desperately needs in the all-new “The Beginning… ” series finale episode of GOTHAM airing Thursday, April 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

Gotham airs on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. on FOX.
