'Gotham By Gaslight' Will Be The Next DC Animated Film. Before it comes out, 'Batman and Harley Quinn' will be released August 29.
DC has announced that Gotham by Gaslight will be the next comic turned into an animated film. The project will be a part of the special features section on the Batman and Harley Quinn DVD and Blu-Ray release. Gotham by Gaslight debuted in 1989 and was one of the first comics to be categorized as an Elseworld comics story.
As with all of the DC animated films, Gotham by Gaslight will be coming directly to DVD. The comic book was originally written by Brian Augustyn, with art by Mike Mignola. There is no other news about the project and we can only speculate at this point about who the voice cast will include. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood as more news about the project continues trickling out.
Until we hear more, we can look forward to the next animated movie, Batman and Harley Quinn, which will have one-night cinematic premiere on August 14.
The voice cast for the film includes Kevin Conroy and The Big Bang Theory star Melissa Rauch as the titular hero and villain, respectively. Loren Lester, Paget Brewster, John DiMaggio, Eric Bauza, Rob Paulsen, Robin Atkin Downes, Mindy Sterling and Trevor Devall also star.
Here’s the official synopsis:
“In Batman and Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Jason Woodrue (a.k.a. The Floronic Man) embark on an ecological quest to save the planet – and, unfortunately, eliminate most of humankind along the way. To save humanity, Batman and Nightwing are forced to enlist Harley Quinn to catch Poison Ivy, Harley’s BFF and frequent partner-in-crime. But Batman’s patience is put to the test by the unpredictable and untrustworthy Harley during the twists and turns the reluctant companions face during their bumpy road trip. The result is a thrill ride of action, adventure and comedy no Batman fan has seen before.”
Batman and Harley Quinn will be available on Digital HD August 15 followed by the Blu-Ray and DVD release on August 29.
