‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2’ Hits $133M After May Day Monday

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 has yet to debut in the United States but the Marvel sequel written and directed by James Gunn has already managed a hefty take overseas totaling in at $132.9 million.

Over the weekend, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 opened with $106 million breaking the $11 billion mark for the MCU at the worldwide box office. Guardians then went on to make another $26.9 million on the May Day holiday. Leading the pack of the 37 markets the film has been released in is the UK with $23 million.

As Deadline reports, following the UK is Australia with $12.6M, Germany at $11.7M, France at $10.8M, Mexico with $10.6M, Brazil with $9.1M, Italy with $4.9M, Spain at $4.4M, Indonesia with $4.4M and the Philippines with $3.7M.

Early tracking reports suggest Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 could open with $150 million this weekend in the states. The first Guardians debuted with $94,320,883 million at the domestic box office.

Written and directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Glenn Close, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Kurt Russell.  Here’s the official synopsis:
