‘Guardians Vol. 3’ Confirmed To Be Set After ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

While most of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films are set in the year in which they were released, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 takes place just a few months after the events of the first Guardians film, placing it in 2014. The Guardians are next set to appear in Avengers: Infinity War, which comes out and is set in 2018, four years after the events of the first two Guardians films. Because of this, many fans were wondering when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 might take place. The sequel has no release date yet, but would hit theaters after Infinity War and Avengers 4, so the question is would the next installment take place within this 4-year gap?

James Gunn took to Twitter today to answer that very question:

While I’m sure many fans will be insanely curious about what the Guardians have been up to in the four years between their first two solo films and Infinity War, it should be really interesting to pick up with the team so much later and see how they’ve grown as a family.
