Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Dave Bautista says that he would like to see his character Drax's daughter Moondragon in a future film.
While speaking to ScreenRant during a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 press junket, Dave Bautista was asked if he would like to see Moondragon appear in a future Guardians film. Here is his reply:
“Yeah! Of course! I would love to tell more of the backstory of Drax. Whether or not that will happen, I don’t know. I don’t know if they’ll ever really focus on Drax, but I hope so. I think it’s a really interesting story.”
In the comics, Moondragon is a powerful telepath whose real name is Heather Douglas, daughter of Arthur Douglas, a human who is essentially reborn as Drax the Destroyer after Thanos kills his family. Because of changes made to Dave Bautista’s Drax and his origins for the films, it is unlikely Moondragon’s origin will remain as it was in the comics, but surely Gunn could find a way of having her appear.
Here’s the official synopsis for the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel:
Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
Directed by James Gunn, the film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Kurt Russell, Sean Gunn, Elizabeth Debicki, Glenn Close, Michael Rosenbaum and Sylvester Stallone.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters May 5, 2017. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Dave Bautista and the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
