Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Vin Diesel teases Groot's final form, says we haven't seen Groot at his full size just yet.
During an interview with USA Today, Diesel teased his character’s future growth:
“The first Groot we saw was a freshman in college. This [Guardians Vol. 2] Groot is in nursery school. Wait ’til we see the full-fledged working-man Groot. Wait ’til we see Groot!“
For me, Diesel’s statement brings to mind the crazy overgrown version of Groot from the 2008 Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning run of Guardians of the Galaxy comics. The design of Groot in these films is a lot cuter than the version from the comics, but perhaps by the time we see the Guardians in Avengers: Infinity War, we’ll see a version of him that’s a little more fearsome. That will come in handy if the Groot vs. Hulk showdown ever actually happens.
Directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Kurt Russell, Sean Gunn, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, Glenn Close, Michael Rosenbaum and Sylvester Stallone. Here is the sequel’s official synopsis:
Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters May 5, 2017.
