James Gunn, director of the upcoming sequel 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2', comments on what the film will ultimately be about in a DVD bonus feature.
One of the best traits of Marvel films is the ability of the individual stories to intertwine with one another, reminding audiences that the characters do indeed live in a shared universe. This is something that the filmmakers like to do behind the scenes as well, and in the extras of the DVD release of Doctor Strange we don’t just get a parody of whatever Thor’s been up to since Avengers: Age of Ultron, but also a look at the process of filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Director James Gunn spoke in the bonus features about the making of the Guardians sequel, and what the deal is with the band of interstellar rogues this time around:
“I think the primary story is really about learning that thing that we think we want, that we’re going to get outside of ourselves and outside of these relationships that we have, has been there all along.”
It’s a sweet sentiment, and we can only hope it comes through between the raucous laughter the film is likely to elicit, judging by recent trailers.
Doctor Strange will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on February 28th and March 6th in the UK.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was directed and written by James Gunn, and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Elizabeth Debicki, Kurt Russell and Vin Diesel. It is scheduled to be released in the US on May 5th 2017, in 3D and IMAX 3D.
