Bradley Cooper Explains Why He Can’t Direct ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’

Since Disney fired James Gunn over offensive tweets that resurfaced in July, a new director for the reportedly stalled Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has yet to be announced. While actor Bradley Cooper – who provides the voice of Rocket Raccoon in the Marvel Studios films- is receiving acclaim for his directorial debut titled A Star Is Born, the filmmaker explained why he couldn’t helm the third Guardians of the Galaxy film during an interview with Joe.

Although James Gunn will no longer direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the studio is reportedly planning to use his script for the final chapter of the trilogy. Bradley Cooper explained that this is the reason he could not direct the film if offered the opportunity:

“I could never direct anything that I didn’t write. No, I could never direct anything that I didn’t write.”

James Gunn had previously finished his script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which was set to begin production early next year. However, the project has reportedly been put on hold following the decision to remove Gunn as the director of the final chapter in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Sean Gunn.
