Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' is poised to surpass its predecessor in its opening weekend on an astronomical level at the domestic box office.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is expected to earn at least $138.1 million at the U.S. domestic box office in opening weekend tallies. Compared to the original film’s surprising performance ($94.3 million), that is nearly $44 million more in total.
The Guardians are now held in the same regard within the mainstream audience’s hearts as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s quintessential superhero team, the Avengers. Vol. 2 has received an “A” grade on CinemaScore, so audiences are certainly enjoying this new galactic adventure with Star-Lord and the gang.
