‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2’: New Look At Adam Warlock’s Cocoon

Adam Warlock is a character that fans have been waiting to see on the big screen for a long time. Though he didn’t end up making an appearance in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Warlock was teased in one of the film’s five post-credits scenes.

The scene in question features Ayesha, the leader of the Sovereign played by Elizabeth Debicki, talking with one of her handmaidens following her humiliating loss by the Guardians. Ayesha tells her that she’s created a new being “more powerful, more beautiful and more capable of destroying the Guardians of the Galaxy” who she intends to call “Adam” as the camera pans out to reveal a new type of Sovereign birthing pod.

Today, freelance concept artist Ian Joyner shared a never-before-seen piece of concept art of the pod, giving us our best look at yet at the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s version of Adam Warlock’s cocoon from the comics. You can check it out below.

The film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Glenn Close, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Kurt Russell. Here’s the official synopsis:

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 arrives on Digital HD on August 8, followed by the first-ever 4K UHD Disney home release, as well as the Blu-Ray and DVD on August 22.
