Avengers: Endgame actress Karen Gillan finally spoke about how she felt after James Gunn was reinstated as director of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3.
Speaking with the L.A. Times, Karen Gillan opened up about Avengers: Endgame, working with Robert Downey Jr., her future at Marvel and several other topics. Karen Gillan was also asked how she felt about James Gunn’s return for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3. Karen Gillan said that she was happy that their leader was back and that it would have been weird to do the movie without him:
“I was so happy because it truly feels like we’re part of this little family on “Guardians.” And to have your leader ripped away from you is a really weird feeling. I feel that it wouldn’t be the same type of “Guardians” movie without him. So much of it is his personality. The sense of humor, his taste in music, the characters — there’s so much of him in there, so that would have been quite a strange sensation to make it without him. We were just so happy when he came back. It feels like everything’s as it should be now.”
Karen Gillan did an amazing job as Nebula in James Gunn’s Guardians films and now in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The future of Karen Gillan’s Nebula in the MCU is somewhat bright after the reformed villainess doesn’t have the looming shadow of Thanos over her anymore. She may need to find Gamora after the events of Endgame but it finally feels like Karen Gillan is part of the Guardians’ family. Starting with the James Gunn’s first Guardians film, no one ever thought that Karen Gillan’s Nebula would turn out to be such an important character in the Infinity Saga.
Like Karen Gillan, other actors from the Guardians franchise like Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, and Dave Bautista have expressed their joy for having James Gunn back in the director’s seat for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 again. James Gunn started his particular adventure with the Guardians of the Galaxy way back in 2014 and turned a virtually unknown team into a multimillionaire franchise for Marvel. After Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, James Gunn was ready to helm the third installment when Disney sacked him for some inappropriate tweets from years ago. Disney reversed this decision some weeks ago when they gave James Gunn back his job.
Nevertheless, James Gunn will have to finish The Suicide Squad for DC first before tackling the Guardians’ third installment sometime between the end of 2019 and the start of 2020. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is rumored to start production sometime in 2020 and debut in 2021.
