After having joined Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in the battle against Thanos in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame, the Guardians of the Galaxy are set to return for a third solo outing with director James Gunn returning to the director’s chair. Details on what the filmmaker has planned for the third chapter of the film series are currently under wraps, but Vin Diesel did offer an interesting bit of information during an interview with ComicBook.com in which he said, “I only have two words about that character and that is Alpha Groot.”
Of course, Vin Diesel’s comments prompted speculation about what he could have meant and it appears even James Gunn is perplexed by the Groot voice actors’ statement. On his official Twitter account, Gunn said he suspects Vin Diesel could have simply meant that the next version of Groot will be the most awesome one yet and noted that the actor has not even read the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 screenplay yet.
Check out Gunn’s posts on Vin Diesel’s comments.
While production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was scheduled to begin early this year, the project was put on hold following Disney’s decision to remove James Gunn as the director of the final chapter in the trilogy. Now, Gunn will begin production on the third Guardians of the Galaxy film after completing work on The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. and DC. Details on the third chapter of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy are currently unknown, though the film will likely explore the ramifications of the universe-changing events in Avengers: Endgame.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Sean Gunn.
