‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ Doesn’t Seem To Be A Priority For Marvel

During an interview with Collider, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige offered the latest update on the status of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

After James Gunn was fired by Disney over offensive social media posts the filmmaker wrote years ago, Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was delayed with few public details on how the project will move forward. While Marvel Studios has since confirmed they will still use James Gunn script for the final chapter of the film series, Kevin Feige noted that they are currently focusing on other projects:

“I mean, when it was pushed back, it was pushed back. Meaning the release date, because it’s not coming out—although we’ve never announced a release date actually, but it was gonna happen sooner rather than later, initially of course. Outside of knowing that we’re gonna use [James Gunn’s] draft, [we have] been focusing on other projects.”

James Gunn had completed his script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and production was scheduled to begin early next year. However, the project has been put on hold following the decision to remove Gunn as the director of the final chapter in the trilogy, though Disney and Marvel Studios are reportedly intending to use his script.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Sean Gunn.
