With James Gunn no longer directing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (a decision Disney made after offensive tweets the filmmaker posted years ago), the future of the film has been on the mind of many fans, especially after Kevin Feige noted Marvel Studios’ is currently focusing on other projects. However, Sean Gunn assured fans that the film can still work even without James Gunn at the helm:
“I don’t know exactly how that’s all gonna work, but I feel like we are going to make the third movie, I’m excited to make it, I think it’s a disservice to the fans if we didn’t make it and I know the people who worked on the ‘Guardians’ movies are really a family, and we’re gonna come together and make the best movie we can regardless of who’s in charge.”
Sean Gunn concluded by telling fans, “I just have this feeling everything’s gonna work itself out.”
James Gunn had completed his script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and production was scheduled to begin early next year. However, the project has been put on hold following the decision to remove Gunn as the director of the final chapter in the trilogy, though Disney and Marvel Studios intend to use his script.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Sean Gunn.
The Guardians of the Galaxy are expected to appear next in the Marvel Cinematic Universe this April in Avengers: Endgame. Here’s the synopsis to Avengers: Endgame:
After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers must assemble once more in order to undo Thanos’ actions and restore order to the universe once and for all, no matter what consequences may be in store.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Paul Rudd, Jeremy Renner, Brie Larson, Josh Brolin and Chris Pratt.
