According to THR, the film adaptation is said to be keeping a lot of the musical aspects from the original 1992 film. The project also has Dan Lin attached to it as a producer and has worked on the Sherlock films with Ritchie over at Warner Bros. Lin Pictures’ Jonathan Eirch is also set to executive produce the film.
Aladdin is just one of many upcoming live-action films that Disney are adapting. We recently had new development on the Mulan project which has been given a November 2, 2018 release date. The Jungle Book’s director Jon Favreau recently announced that he will be helming a live-action adaptation of The Lion King.
Next year will mark the arrival of Emma Watson’s Beauty and the Beast on March 17, 2017, from director Bill Condon.
