Sherlock Holmes and King Arthur director Guy Ritchie has revealed, in a new interview, that he would like to direct a Suicide Squad film.
For the most part, Guy Ritchie is one of the most successful filmmakers in Hollywood. His films have consistently performed well, both critically and commercially. The director’s most recent film, 2015’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E., has found love in an almost cult-sort of way. Ritchie is back this year with King Arthur: Legends of The Sword; a re-imagining of the King Arthur legend from Warner Bros. Pictures.
Interestingly, Ritchie has revealed what other Warner Bros. franchise he would be interested in directing, and it is a pretty bad-ass choice. The filmmaker was a guest on Variety’s Playback Podcast and revealed that he would love to direct a Suicide Squad film.
“I quite fancy doing Suicide Squad 2, because I thought I could do a good job with it. I can’t do it because I’m doing something else. But I’ve felt I could really do something with that.”
Of course, Mel Gibson is the currently rumored individual to helm that Suicide Squad film, but Ritchie would be a pretty solid choice too. How do you guys feel about this? Would you love to see Ritchie tackle a Suicide Squad sequel? Honestly, after watching Sherlock Holmes and The Man From U.N.C.L.E., I feel like Ritchie would be the perfect director to take this franchise to new heights.
