‘Halloween’: Early Draft Of The Script Had A Different Fate For Laurie

Bloody Disgusting has revealed new details on an early draft of the Halloween script, which had a different ending for Jamie Lee Curtis’ Laurie Strode.

Although Halloween concluded with Laurie Strode and her family trapping Michael Myers in the basement, burning down the house, and escaping while audiences were left to wonder if the masked killer was truly dead, a May 2017 draft of the script offered a more definitive conclusion to the story. In the early draft, Laurie, her daughter, and her granddaughter find themselves being pursued by Michael Myers upstairs. While Laurie manages to fire several bullets in the killer, she eventually runs out of ammunition and runs down the hall, leading the Shape away from her family.

The pursuit concludes with Laurie leaping out from the shadows and repeatedly stabbing Myers with a screwdriver. The masked killer eventually drops his knife and begins choking Laurie, which her daughter witnesses from outside the window after making an escape with Allyson. Laurie manages to stab Michael in the neck before dropping to the ground, which causes her daughter to go on the offence and push the wounded Michael through a window. While the Shape vanishes, Laurie’s daughter and granddaughter confirm that she has died, thus bringing Strode’s story to a definitive end.
