‘Halloween’ Sequel Reportedly Prepping For Fall Shoot With Jamie Lee Curtis Returning

Collider reports Blumhouse Productions is prepping to begin production on the next Halloween film this fall with Jamie Lee Curtis returning.

According to the outlet’s multiple sources, the Halloween sequel is preparing to begin production after Labour Day 2019 with Universal likely to release the film on October 16, 2020, which is currently reserved for an untitled Blumhouse film. Jamie Lee Curtis is expected to reprise her iconic role as Laurie Strode alongside co-stars Judy Greer and Andi Matichak, though talent deals have yet to close.

The outlet’s sources claim David Gordon Green, who co-wrote and helmed the 2018 Halloween film, is expected to return the director’s chair and penned the script for the sequel. Franchise caretaker Malek Akkad will reportedly produce alongside Jason Blum and Bill Block. Danny McBride Green, David Gordon Green, Jamie Lee Curtis, original Halloween director John Carpenter, and Blumhouse’s Couper Samuelson are said to be among the many serving as executive producers.

The 2018 Halloween film jettisoned the canon of every entry in the franchise aside from the original and followed Jamie Lee Curtis’ Laurie Strode decades after the events of the horror classic. The film grossed a worldwide total of $255 million against a budget of $10 million.

Directed by David Gordan Green from a script co-written by himself, Jeff Fradley and Danny McBride, the film stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, Will Patton, Virginia Gardner, and Nick Castle.

Halloween is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra-HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
