‘Halo’ Showtime TV Series Will Include Master Chief

Showtime is currently looking for actors to portray numerous space marines for their upcoming television series adaptation of the popular Xbox video game franchise, Halo. In fact, one of the roles that they are specifically trying to fill will certainly excite the most hardcore fans of the games because according to THR, Master Chief is set to appear on the series.

THR obtained casting notices that describe John/Master Chief as a “Spartan-like warrior of large build.” Other characters to be included in the Halo series include Dr. Halsey, who is expected to be based on the Dr. Catherine Halsey character from Halo: Reach, Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians, as well as a character named Jenny, who is listed as an Asian woman in the 18-20 age range.

The fact that this Halo series is looking to cast an actor to play Master Chief is notable because the character is portrayed in the series without his human likeness shown. He is always donning his green armor and helmet, obscuring his face. This could potentially alter many fans’ perception of the beloved character in future games if they were to borrow elements from this upcoming series.

The Halo series is set to begin production some time in June 2019 in Budapest, with Kyle Killen serving as the executive producer, writer and showrunner.

The road to bringing Halo to either the cinematic landscape or through television has been a long one. Numerous plans for a feature film have all fallen through, but this new Showtime series was announced back in 2013 with Steven Spielberg attached to executive produce at the time although at this point, his involvement with the project is unknown.

Are you excited to finally see Showtime’s series come into fruition? Who would you cast to play Master Chief? Sound off in the comments below, and be sure to continue following Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news on the most exciting television series in development.
