Mark Hamill’s Humorous Theory For Luke’s Fate In ‘The Last Jedi’

Mark Hamill has a humorous theory regarding Luke Skywalker's fate following the events that occur onscreen in 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'.

Given that Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been in theaters for well over a month now the majority of fans already know about the events that occur in the film as well as Luke Skywalker’s (Mark Hamill) fate.

In the film, we see Luke Force-project himself on Crait as he faces off against his nephew Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) for one last time. After his projection fades, Luke is seen gazing at the horizon for one last time on Ahch-To before he disappears and becomes one with the Force.

Some of the most hardcore Star Wars fans have countless theories about some of the events that occur onscreen throughout The Last Jedi and for Twitter user Justin Arnold, he has an interesting question regarding what happens after Luke becomes one with the Force:

Luckily for Justin, Hamill and writer/director Rian Johnson are interested in his question:

“Rian Johnson: In the edit room someone joke suggested that when he fades away his robot hand should clank down onto the rock. Might have undercut the moment. ?”

This leads to yet another humorous Hamill-ism:

Perhaps J.J. Abrams should take note of Hamill’s humorous The Last Jedi theory. Besides, despite dying within the physical realms of the galaxy, Luke will inevitably return for Star Wars: Episode IX as a Force ghost.

Here is the synopsis:

“In Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens join the galactic legends in an epic adventure that unlocks age-old mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past.”

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, the film stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern, Frank Oz and Benicio del Toro.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is in theaters now.
