Hayley Atwell: Agent Carter Has Enough Stories To Fill Another Season

Hayley Atwell’s time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Agent Peggy Carter may be over for now, but that doesn’t mean she’s done talking about her famous character and what season three of Agent Carter may have entailed.

Hayley Atwell was a guest at ACE Comic Con over the weekend, where the actress was asked about what Agent Carter may be up to now, after the show’s cancellation in 2016:

“I’d be curious to know what the fans for her [Peggy Carter]. Some people have said they want to see her founding S.H.I.E.L.D. You have that aspect of it, she’s able to let go in some ways — of Cap — and move on to Sousa.”

Peggy Carter was an instant hit when the character debuted as Steve Rogers’ better half in Captain America: The First Avenger. Hayley Atwell went on to reprise the role with several cameos in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, and Captain America: Civil War, where Carter died of natural causes.

Before being killed off, however, Hayley Atwell had her own Agent Carter series, which ran for two seasons on ABC. Reflecting on what the third season could have looked like, Atwell says the possibilities are endless:

“She’s a great cause and she takes action, so there’s so many things going on socially from the 50s to when she passes, that I think she’d have loved to be a part of. There are so many things she could have been a part of, and probably did do. It could probably fill another season, I’m sure. I hope.”

Though Peggy Carter died in the present day Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are still plenty of stories to be told in the past or through flashbacks, so it’s too early to say we’ll definitely never see her again. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for any potential updates!
