The glorious second trailer for Avengers: Endgame was released Thursday morning along with a new movie poster and caught the entire world by surprise. The trailer is coming off the heels of the release of Captain Marvel which opened to a massive $153 Million just domestically.
The internet has been dissecting the trailer over the past few days and there seems to be a particular part of the trailer that could be giving away a major plot point of the film.
During the beginning of the Avengers: Endgame trailer while we see the montage of Steve Rogers at the army recruitment center up until the scene of Rogers carrying the casket of his lost love Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), fans can actuahearhere the voice of Hayley Atwell from her scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
It’s being speculated that one of the major plot points in Endgame is actually hitting the reset button on the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it going forward. Hayley Atwell’s speech to Chris Evans goes like this:
“The world has changed. None of us can go back. All we can do is our best and sometimes the best we can do is to start over.”
The new Avengers: Endgame trailer had a theme to it, just as the one before it had a theme. The first trailer created hype with the “not us” theme which echoed back for a second here. Our heroes were not just going to “move on” and let the decimation go without consequence.
This new trailer focused on “whatever it takes” to undo what the Mad Titan Thanos has done to their world and countless other worlds. This will require great sacrifice from our heroes, even potentially costing some of them their lives.
The intriguing theory comes from CBR‘s Renaldo Matadeen, teasing that it’s possible that this dialogue was included because Captain America will be making the ultimate sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame. Giving his life for his friends and the other half of the universe that dusted away. He’s still the same kid from Brooklyn who jumped onto a grenade to save countless unknown soldiers and a bully years ago.
What do you think of Hayley Atwell’s’ voiceover in the Avengers: Endgame trailer? Could it be foreshadowing a reset of the MCU? Sound off in the comments down below!
