HBO Max Officially Uses DC Extended Universe Title

HBO Max uses the DC Extended Universe as its official category title for its DC movies.

Although fans have been referring to Warner Bros.’ DC movies as the DC Extended Universe (or the DCEU) for quite some time, there’s always been some debate over the title. Back in 2018, the studio announced its films under the Worlds of DC banner at San Diego Comic-Con. Many fans assumed this alluded to the different universes and timelines following DC’s new direction after the disappointing reception to Justice League. With future titles like Joker taking place outside of the same universe as previous interconnected movies, it made sense.

But it seems like Warner Bros. has come around to the DC Extended Universe name, since it’s been spotted as the category title in HBO Max. Fans quickly noticed the change after the streaming service was released on May 27. It’ll be interesting to see if Warner Bros. and DC Films refer to their universe as the DCEU in future panels and announcements. Take a look at the category in the screenshot below.

Here’s the official synopsis for Zack Snyder’s Justice League:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
