Previously HBO had only teased at a fall release date for its Watchmen show. But we now know when it will debut. According to an official press release from HBO, the upcoming Damon Lindelof Watchmen series will be released in October of 2019. Unfortunately, it did not give an exact date or time for Damon Lindelof’s upcoming show.

The HBO Watchmen series is the second time the Watchmen story has received a live-action adaptation. The first was Zack Snyder’s Watchmen film in 2009. With an episodic series this time, Damon Lindelof and HBO are looking to expand on the story that the film told in a little under three hours.

Damon Lindelof serves as an executive producer alongside Nicole Kassell, Tom Spezialy, Stephen Williams, and Joseph Iberti. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross will compose the score for the show.

Here is the official synopsis for HBO’s Watchmen:

Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, WATCHMEN embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.

Watchmen stars Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Jean Smart, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Hong Chau, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, and James Wolk. The series is produced for HBO by White Rabbit in association with Warner Bros. Television, based on Alan Moore’s graphic novel co-created and illustrated by Dave Gibbons and published by DC.

Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen debuts in fall 2019 on HBO.
