Ever since Henry Cavill soared onscreen for the first time in Man of Steel, fans have used their creative skills to find a way to utilize the likeness of Christopher Reeve and implement it within the aesthetic of the DCEU established by Zack Snyder. There have been many mashups of both Christopher Reeve and Henry Cavill together to see how their takes on Superman would look.
In this new artwork, we get a change of pace and see an alternate design of Superman’s Kryptonian father Jor-El if he were portrayed by Christopher Reeve during his age in which he starred as the iconic hero. This design will certainly warm the hearts of fans:
In Superman: The Movie, Jor-El was portrayed by big screen legend Marlon Brando. In Man of Steel, he was portrayed by Russell Crowe.
Christopher Reeve continues to resonate within the hearts of audiences that had the opportunity to see that thanks to him, we believe that a man can fly. The current fate of Henry Cavill as Superman in the DCEU remains a mystery, but fans are curious to see if Superman will once again embrace the tone that was established in 1978. After all, Henry Cavill brought something similar to that take when he returned in Justice League.
Do you hope we will be seeing Henry Cavill return as Superman sooner rather than later? Is it time for a new Man of Steel actor? Sound off in the comments below.
Although the next Superman film hasn’t been announced or slated yet, or if Henry Cavill will reprise his role, Supergirl is one of the many projects being developed over at Warner Bros. and DC. The studio has tasked Oren Uziel to pen the script. Meanwhile, Superman is still rumored to cameo in Shazam!, but it’s unclear if it will be Henry Cavill. Here is the synopsis for DC’s next film:
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Directed by David F. Sandberg, DC Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Djimon Honsou.
Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.
