‘Justice League’: New Look At Henry Cavill’s Superman Mustache Revealed In BTS Photo

A brand new image from the Justice League movie offers fans a behind-the-scenes look at Henry Cavill’s Superman mustache before it was digitally removed.

In 2017, Superman actor Henry Cavill found himself at the centre of a hilarious controversy when Zack Snyder’s Justice League premiered in theaters. The British star grew a mustache for his role in Mission: Impossible – Fallout but was asked to return to Justice League to film additional scenes for the movie overseen by Joss Whedon, who replaced original director Zack Snyder. As a result, Warner Bros. had to digitally remove Henry Cavill’s facial hair to give the actor the classic Superman look.

The results were laughable, with many criticizing Henry Cavill’s Superman look in the theatrical cut of Justice League. Even Henry Cavill himself addressed the “mustache fiasco” with a post on his Instagram account. It’s now been more than two years since the release of the DC team-up movie, but this image gives fans a fresh look at Henry Cavill’s Superman mustache before the actor’s facial hair was digitally removed.

You can see the Justice League behind-the-scenes image with Henry Cavill’s Superman below.

Henry Cavill’s future as Superman is currently in limbo amid reports on contentious contract negotiations and Warner Bros. and DC planning to focus their efforts on introducing Supergirl. Henry Cavill’s planned Superman cameo in Shazam! was cut after negotiations to reprise his role fell through, though the actor has expressed his interest in returning to the role if asked. For now, Henry Cavill is set to trade in his Superman suit to play Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher.

Henry Cavill was last seen as Superman in Justice League. Here’s the official synopsis for the movie:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.

Justice League is now available on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD. Stay tuned for the latest news on Henry Cavill, Superman and the future of the DC Extended Universe.
