Henry Cavill has been very cryptic about his return as Superman in the DC Extended Universe. Ben Affleck has announced his decision to leave the role of Batman in the DCEU but Henry Cavill hasn’t officially announced his exit just yet. If you’re one of the many fans who want to see the actor go on to have plenty more appearances as Superman on the big screen than this new fan art is sure to get you hyped for his possible return.
Henry Cavill was last seen as the iconic DC hero in 2017’s Justice League, in which he infamously had to don a CGI face enhancement for a number of scenes due to his Mission: Impossible-Fallout schedule colliding with his reshoot schedule for the DC Extended Universe team-up movie. The actor had to go through a special process that allowed the digital effects team to remove the mustache that he wore during the Tom Cruise-led action film and replace it with the fresh-faced Clark Kent that fans know and love. Talented artist Skull101ify has revealed new artwork of Henry Cavill as the Kingdom Come version of Superman via Instagram. Check out the incredible fan art in the post below.
Kingdom Come is a four-issue miniseries from writers Mark Waid and Alex Ross, the latter of which also did the incredible illustrations for the story, which debuted in 1996. The story was part of DC’s iconic Elseworlds titles, which featured the heroes of the comic universe going through drastic changes for the sake of intriguing, one-off tales of adventure.
Elseworlds was also the title and inspiration for the most recent Arrowverse event on The CW. The event was a crossover with the shows Arrow, Supergirl, and The Flash. The titular heroes underwent some major changes themselves due to a nefarious force altering with the balance of the universe, which will lead to this year’s Arrowverse event, Crisis on Infinite Earths, which airs near the end of 2019.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Henry Cavill’s return as Superman as soon as more information becomes available. Are you a fan of the Kingdom Come mini-series?
