Henry Cavill Rumored To Have Filmed Superman Cameo For ‘Shazam!’

A new rumor suggests Henry Cavill did, in fact, shoot a Superman cameo to be featured in DC’s upcoming Shazam! film starring Zachary Levi.

Ever since Justice League was released fans have been waiting to see whether or not Henry Cavill would continue to portray the iconic hero, Superman, moving forward in the DCEU. The Superman actor was revealed to have exited the role of the iconic DC superhero last September after Warner Bros. failed to reach an agreement with Henry Cavill that would have seen him deliver only two lines. Well, now it seems the actor may have indeed filmed that cameo prior to negotiations falling apart.

Rumors from a recent Shazam! test screening suggests Superman himself does make a cameo but his face can’t be seen. This could be an easy way for the studio to get around the unknown status of Henry Cavill’s Superman-tenure and at least get the hero in the film in some capacity. However, According to ComicBook’s Jim Viscardi on the latest ComicBook Nation podcast, Henry Cavill did shoot a Superman cameo for Shazam! which could end up being used should the Warner Bros. soon reach an agreement with the actor in time, making it easy for the studio to make a quick change and utilize the previously filmed cameo by Henry Cavill (where you see his face) in Shazam!

As previously reported, Henry Cavill is not looking to have script and director approval for Man Of Steel 2, should it ever get made. So at least for the moment, it sounds like yes Superman does make a cameo in Shazam!, but will it turn out to be the current (and mostly) loved Henry Cavill’s Superman? Only time will tell. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood as more details continue to trickle in!

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Asher Angel, Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Faithe Herman, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

The film will hit theaters this year on April 5, 2019.
