Henry Cavill’s ‘The Witcher’ Scores Big With Audiences Despite Reviews

Despite mixed reviews from critics, Henry Cavill’s Netflix series, The Witcher, series is scoring big with audiences in the United States.

Earlier this month, Henry Cavill’s new Netflix show debuted and generated a mixed response from critics. The show currently has a 56% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes among critics but has a 93% approval rating among audiences based on over 12,000 votes. These numbers also seem to reflect audience engagement with the series as it is apparently one of the most viewed in the United States.

According to Business Insider, based on information provided by Parrot Analytics, Henry Cavill’s The Witcher was the third most in-demand original streaming series in the United States between December 18th through December 24th.  During the week it was only behind the Netflix show, Stranger Things and the new Disney+ series The Mandalorian. The series was already renewed for a second season ahead of its debut.

The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Freya Allan as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Jodhi May as Queen Calanthe, Bjorn Hlynur Haraldsson as Eist, Adam Levy as Mousesack, MyAnna Buring as Aretuza, and Millie Brady as Princess Renfri, with Mimi Ndiweni and Therica Wilson-Read as novice sorcerers.
