Entertainment Weekly has revealed the first official still from the upcoming Fast & Furious spinoff film, Hobbs & Shaw. The new still showcases Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham as the titular duo as they are side-by-side as they are ready to kick some ass.
You can check out the new still down below:

The Rock made his debut in the Fast & Furious franchise when he appeared in Fast Five. He has since reprised his role in Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7 and The Fate of the Furious. Jason Statham made his debut in the franchise during the post-credits scene for Fast & Furious 6, where it is revealed that he is the one who kills poor Han (Sung Kang) in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. He then appears prominently in both Furious 7 and The Fate of the Furious.
Many agree that one of, if not the biggest action highlight of The Fate of the Furious was the prison scene in which Hobbs & Shaw start a massive brawl among prisoners. That scene along with other moments throughout the film showcased the two action stars have impressive chemistry that would bode well for this spinoff film.
Plot details remain under wraps but the spin-off will feature an unlikely team-up between Johnson’s Hobbs and Statham’s Shaw after the franchise breakouts discovered an undeniable chemistry in the eighth film of the main series, The Fate of the Furious.
Hobbs & Shaw is being directed by David Leitch (Deadpool 2) from a script written by franchise veteran Chris Morgan. Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz and Seven Bucks Productions’ Hiram Garcia are producing the film.
“A spinoff of The Fate of the Furious, focusing on Johnson’s US Diplomatic Security Agent Luke Hobbs forming an unlikely alliance with Statham’s Deckard Shaw.”
The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Vanessa Kirby, Eddie Marsan, Eiza Gonzalez and Idris Elba.
Hobbs & Shaw will hit theaters August 2, 2019.

After being spared by Thanos, Tony Stark can be seen adrift in space with limited supplies and oxygen. Although Nebula appears to be with him, the unlikely companions seem to be lost with little chance of being rescued, though it is hard to imagine that Stark will spend most of what could be his final adventure away from the action.
The First Avenger will unsurprisingly return for the conclusion of the first decade of Marvel Studios stories and he is determined to undo Thanos' decimation. Of course, many fans are concerned that reversing the decimation could come at a great cost for Captain America considering Chris Evans' contract expired with Avengers: Endgame.
Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a Black Widow, returns for Avengers: Endgame and it appears she's been assessing the consequences of Thanos' actions. Standing by Captain America's side as they head to attempt to reverse the decimation, Black Widow seems confident that their plan cannot fail.
Although Thor nearly defeated Thanos by stabbing through the chest with Stormbreaker, The Mad Titan had enough energy left to use the Infinity Stones to heal himself while erasing 50% of the population in the universe. Now, a contemplative Thor can be seen in the Avengers: Endgame trailer and one can't fault him for reflecting on the fact that victory was almost in his grasp.
Nebula and Rocket Raccoon were the only Guardians of the Galaxy characters to survive Thanos' wrath, with former being left alone on Titan with Tony Stark. With the film expected to conclude Thanos' and Nebula having more reason than most to see the Mad Titan brought to justice, fans are hoping she will have an extensive role Avengers: Endgame.
The new trailer also confirmed that Hawkeye will assume the Ronin mantle when he returns and the death of family is the likely reason for his new identity. It appears Natasha will attempt to recruit her old friend when they embark on a mission to defeat Thanos, but whether or not Hawkeye agreed to join them remains to be seen.
