Rachel McAdams has been offered the female lead in Marvel's Doctor Strange movie.!
Just in time for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, some Marvel news to drop before the event gets going. According to my sourcing here in Los Angeles, the rumor I’m hearing is that Rachel McAdams, currently starring in the second season of HBO’s True Detective, has been offered the female lead in Marvel’s upcoming Doctor Strange movie. Sinister helmer Scott Derrickson is directing the Marvel Studios project based on the screenplay by Jon Sphaits. Benedict Cumberbatch is headlining as the Sorcerer Supreme.
Rachel McAdams is best known for her work in romantic movies like The Notebook, Wedding Crashers and The Time Traveler’s Wife. She will next be seen in the sports drama Southpaw.
Before he met the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange was an unlikeable egotistical neurosurgeon. Everything changes when a car accident limits Strange’s use of his hands, sending him on a maddening quest for a miracle cure. This origin story introduces the magical and mystical realms of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Doctor Strange is scheduled to be released in theaters next year on November 4, 2016. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Rachel McAdams and the upcoming Mavrel Cinematic Universe movie!
