Hugh Jackman Bids Final Farewell To ‘Wolverine’ Beard

A few days ago, the tentatively titled Wolverine 3 had wrapped production in New Mexico. After playing one of the most iconic characters in all of Marvel Comics for over the past 16 years, Hugh Jackman seems like he is finally taking it all in. It is crazy to think that the Academy Award-nominated actor has dedicated himself to this role this long, even longer than any actor has portrayed James Bond. And now in a personal video on Twitter, Jackman bid adieu to one of the most iconic elements of his Wolverine get-up.

Jackman shared a video of him shaving off his character’s beard for the very last time. Humorously, as he shaves it off, Jackman comments about how his wife will be “very happy.” You can check out the fun, yet oddly bittersweet video below.

As sad as it is for Jackman to retract the claws after all these years, it’d be foolish to say he hasn’t earned a proper swan song from the franchise. After all the commitment he has brought to this character through all these films and of course the intense physical training to maintain his killer physique, it is nice to see that he will be moving on to expanding his craft as a performer. Let’s hope that he and director James Mangold hit this one out of the park. After all, what better way to send off Jackman’s Wolverine than having an R-Rated film? I cannot wait to see what they both bring to the table this time around. #OneLastTime.

Wolverine 3 reunites Jackman with The Wolverine director James Mangold as well as Patrick Stewart, reprising his role (reportedly also for the last time) as Professor Charles Xavier. The ensemble also includes Boyd Holdbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Eriq La Salle, Elise Neal, and Elizabeth Rodriguez. The film will be released in theaters on March 3, 2017.
