In years past, Jackman met with Wein at SDCC 2008, roughly a year before X-Men Origins: Wolverine was released. Hugh Jackman personally let Wein know that he was honored to portray his character in several movies:
Hugh Jackman’s final performance as the character occurred in this year’s Logan, meaning that Wein most likely saw it earlier this year. Hugh Jackman certainly wasn’t alone in missing Wein’s presence, as there came an outpour of support from the comic book community at large:
Aside from his contributions to Wolverine, Wein also worked on comics such as Teen Titans, Superman, Batman, Swamp Thing, X-Men, Fantastic Four, The Defenders, and even served as an editor on Alan Moore and David Gibbons’s seminal graphic novel Watchmen. He will be missed.
Logan is available on Blu-Ray, DVD, and On-Demand, with a cast that includes Hugh Jackman as James “Logan” Howlett (Wolverine), Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier (Professor X), Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce, Stephen Merchant as Caliban, Richard E. Grant as Dr. Zander Rice, Dafne Keen as Laura Kinney (X-23).
