X-Men star Hugh Jackman reportedly took a paycut in order to secure the much-discussed R-rating for his final Wolverine movie 'Logan'.
According to director James Mangold, who recently appeared at the 2016 Butt-Numb-A-Thon event, star Hugh Jackman took a pay cut in order to ensure that the film received that R-rating that many fans have been yearning for since the film was announced. This tidbit of news was confirmed by Ain’t it Cool News’ Eric Vespe on Twitter, who was in attendance. So it looks like 20th Century Fox didn’t have as much confidence in the film going in if this happened.
Over the weekend, the first forty minutes of the film were screened for a select audience and it received a lot of praise. Logan will incorporate a lot of elements from Old Man Logan and after sixteen years, we’ll be saying good-bye to Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. The film will also feature X-23 and it will be less of a superhero film and have more of a Western feel.
The film stars Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Richard E. Grant as Zander Rice, Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce, Stephen Merchant as Caliban and Dafne Keen as Laura Kinney. The cast also includes Elizabeth Rodriguez, Eriq La Salle and Elise Neal.
Logan hits theaters March 3, 2017.
