Back in 1987, George R.R. Martin debuted the first entry in the Wild Card series. Martin does not write the stories but is the editor on each book. The books portray a reality in which humanity was affected by an alien virus dubbed the Wild Card virus. Its name comes from the fact that after entering the atmosphere, the virus killed 90% of those exposed to it, deformed another 9%, and simply granted amazing powers to a mere 1%. That’s only the beginning of the incredible, terrifying effects that the virus has on citizens for generations to come as the story goes from the initial attack in 1946 to a modern day society.
According to a new report from Variety, the streaming service Hulu is planning on creating a writers room for two different Wild Cards-based series. Universal Cable Productions is producing the show with Hulu and Andrew Miller is set to executive produce and write both series. Given the early stages of development, this is the only information regarding the series that has been released so far.
