Here’s How Ian McDiarmid Reacted To The ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ Trailer

Star Wars actor Ian McDiarmid had the perfect response to his surprise appearance as Emperor Palpatine in the trailer for the upcoming The Rise of Skywalker film.

Perhaps the trailer’s biggest surprise was the familiar laughter of Emperor Palpatine in the background of the upcoming Star Wars film. We didn’t get to see the character and it gives no indication as to what role he will play in the plot. But the trailer does imply that his presence will loom over the film in a big way and actor Ian McDiarmid had the perfect response to it.

In a recent Tweet, the actor posted the trailer for The Rise of Skywalker with his own little caption above it. In it, he said the dark side is stronger than ever. You can see the full Tweet below:

From the look of things, Ian McDiarmid is getting right back into his old role!

While the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy remains a subject of controversy, most seem to agree that Ian McDiarmid’s take on Emperor Palpatine was a standout, particularly in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. From the look of things, however, the actor isn’t quite done with the role and may be causing some trouble in the Star Wars universe one last time.

What do you all make of this? Are you looking forward to seeing Ian McDiarmid reprise his role as Emperor Palpatine? How will they bring him back? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
