Disney CEO Bob Iger Announces ‘Star Wars’ Land Opens In 2019

Today, Disney CEO Bob Iger officially announced both planned Star Wars Land park expansions will officially open sometime during 2019.

A year and a half ago, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced Disney’s largest single themed park expansion ever with Star Wars Land. The planned expansion will take place at both Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida, and Disneyland in Anaheim, California. Today Iger officially announced during an investors call that both parks will open sometime during 2019.

The Star Wars Land expansion will transport fans to a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. For the first time ever fans will be able to step into the Star Wars universe and possibly even taste blue milk. The 14-acre immersive environment will introduce fans to a planet they have never seen before, a gateway planet located on the outer rim with places and characters both new and old. Fans will be able to embark on their own heroes journey and even fly a mission aboard the Millenium Falcon as they experience a climactic battle in the Star Wars universe.

Star Wars Land comes to life thanks to Disney’s partnership with WDI and the team members at Lucasfilm. The parks themselves have long been in development — for more than 25 years Disney has been collaborating with Lucasfilm on ways to make these parks a reality.
