‘Inhumans’ Cast Encourage Fans To Keep An Open Mind About The Show

While Marvel Cinematic Universe fans are generally happy with the combined output of Marvel Studios and Marvel Entertainment for the shared universe setting, fan reaction to the previews for Inhumans have been decidedly mixed. However, the cast are encouraging fans to give the completed show a shot.

Ken Leung, who portrays Karnak on the show, noted that the series should be seen as its own take on the material as opposed to a 1:1 adaptation, and as such things are different. But he encouraged fans to keep an open mind in spite of there being mixed feelings on the project:

“We are kind of just loosely based on the comics. The source of some of the mixed reactions to the little that people have seen so far [is] that a lot of people love the comics, they have been around for decades and it remains to be seen how people will accept something that is its own iteration of something that’s already beloved.”

Anson Mount, who plays the lead character Black Bolt, also mentioned that the confusion at the Television Critics Association wasn’t a case of the cast and crew awkwardly stepping away from the crowds, but rather the result of odd scheduling:

“I think that the quote-unquote awkwardness at the [TCAs] was blown out of proportions. There was all this news that we ended the Q&A early, which we did not. It was actually scheduled to end at that time. I think people should just see the thing.”

The cast’s full remarks can be viewed below.

Inhumans will shake the world in September 2017 – September 1 for the two-week IMAX debut of the first two episodes, and September 26 for the beginning of the broadcast for the full eight-episode season. The show’s cast includes Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Iwan Rheon as Maximus, Ken Leung as Karnak, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, Mike Moh as Triton, and Sonya Balmores as Auran. In addition, Ellen Woglom will portray an original character, and the gigantic dog Lockjaw will appear as a CGI creation.
