Former Batman actor Ben Affleck has not been very vocal about his exit from the DC Extended Universe films, but he did share more on why he left the role on Thursday night. Soon afterwards, Kimmel had a small ceremony with a cape and cowl to officially retire Ben Affleck from the role. The late night host then asked the star if he had anything he wanted to say or an official statement to make to which Ben Affleck replied by saying:
“I don’t know, I guess I’m not Batman”
After being cast as Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, fans had mixed reactions with many not being in favor of Ben Affleck as the Caped Crusader. Since the release of that film, fans have positively supported the actor and some claim that he has given us one of the best portrayals of the iconic DC Comics character. His exit from the DC Extended Universe is something that left many fans upset after there had been news about a solo Batman film that could have had Affleck show audiences what he could do with the character. Affleck was originally set to write and direct The Batman. He eventually stepped down and handed the duties to Matt Reeves, who’s been attached to the movie since February 2017. Warner Bros. reportedly wants to start shooting the project this November.
Plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps. The film is said to revolve around a young Batman and Matt Reeves has previously confirmed that it will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic.
