‘Titans’: The Internet Reacts To Brenton Thwaites As Dick Grayson

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales star Brenton Thwaites was cast earlier today as Dick Grayson in live-action Titans series and the internet is weighing in on it.

The young star may not have been the first name that came to fans minds as he has only begun to make a name for himself over the last few years, starring in 2016’s Gods of Egypt in addition to the recent Pirates film, but the DC Comics fan community is reacting rather positively to the announcement of Thwaites as the boy wonder. You can check out some of the tweets below.

The long in development live-action series adaptation of the Teen Titans comes from Weed Road Pictures and Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. The series written by DC creative chief officer Geoff Johns, Akiva Goldsman (Star Trek: Discovery) and Greg Berlanti (Arrow, DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow, The Flash, Supergirl) follows a group of young superheroes from all over the DC Universe when Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of the fearless band of new heroes known as the Titans.

In addition to Thwaites, Titans also stars Anna Diop as the alien princess Koriand’r aka Starfire and 13-year old actress Teagan Croft as Raven. Here’s the official synopsis:

Titans explores one of the most popular comic book teams ever. It follows a group of young soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In the action-adventure series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes that includes Starfire, Raven and others.”

Titans is set to premiere sometime in 2018 with 13-episodes and will be one of the first series to launch the DC-branded direct-to-consumer digital service.
