Pennywise will still be haunting theaters for the next few weeks, but Chapter Two has finished the opening weekend exactly how Warner Bros. predicted — with a slight dip. However, director Andy Muschietti and star Bill Skarsgard shouldn’t be worried since the film still opened at number one for the weekend. The monstrous return of Pennywise was clearly a huge draw for audiences. But Chapter Two failed to beat the opening of Chapter One, which originally roared in with $123.4 million back in 2017.
Box Office Guru reported that It: Chapter Two debuted with $91 million this weekend which is a 26% dip from the first film’s debut. But since Chapter Two still came out on top and largely received positive reviews from critics, Warner Bros. probably won’t be too disappointed with their accurate estimation.
