‘Justice League’: J.K. Simmons Talks Bulking Up To Play Gordon

J.K. Simmons enlightens us on his gym focused bulking process for the Justice League movie. Hit the jump to find out more!

J.K. Simmons was noticeably muscular while filming Justice League. Images of the year old appeared online of him in the gym looking pretty shredded. This encouraged a ton of memes and it even went viral.

Simmons was on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert where his muscularity was brought up and he had this to say:

“My friend’s kid called that shredded Santa, There was no juice involved, it was all natural. Let me just put that out there. Not eating the spinach. Just going to the gym.”

Justice League introduced Commissioner James Gordon to the DC Extended Universe with Academy Award-winning actor J. K. Simmons in the role. In a previous interview with the Metro newspaper, Simmons discussed how he was intimidated by the role and explained how he prepared to play the important DC Comics character.

Simmons stated that while he felt intimidated by the role, he did not let previous portrayals of the character influence his take and instead turned to the source material:

“There was definitely a little bit of an intimidation factor but I wasn’t going to sit down in my living room, get out my DVDs and watch Gary Oldman. I obviously had a tiny little part in the first movie and I did more reading of comics and talking to friends who were comic book aficionados rather than watching or listening to the wonderful actors who have played that character in the past.”

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Amber Heard, Jeremy Irons, J.K. CommSimmons, Connie Nielsen, Julian Lewis Jones and Ciarán Hinds.

Justice League will hit Digital Download on February 13th, 2018 and all Blu Ray and DVD formats on March 13th, 2018.
