‘Suicide Squad’ Star Jai Courtney Reveals Jared Leto’s On-Set Joker Antics

The Suicide Squad star Jai Courtney talked in detail about Jared Leto’s Joker antics on the set of the first film.

While Joaquin Phoenix seems to already be winning people over with his Joker portrayal, Jared Leto’s performance in the first film divided DC Extended Universe fans. The Joker role has become synonymous with method acting and crazy stories floated around about what Jared Leto did on the first Suicide Squad film. Jai Country recently visited Collider Live, where he offered some details about what Jared Leto did on set:

“I think what it is about the role is the pressure to really transform. Not that I know about what they’re doing with this new incarnation, but it seems like there is a little bit more humanity in Joaquin’s development of that character, certainty than what we saw in the first Squad. I mean, Jared was doing some crazy stuff. I never met him out of character. He was doing all sorts of crazy shit.”

When asked about the infamous story regarding Jared Leto sending cast members used condoms, Jai Courtney had the perfect response.

“That’s nothing dude.”

The Suicide Squad actor then revealed some more details about the Joker actor’s on-set chaos.

“He got very generous with the gifts. It started with stuff that he sent Margot [Robbie] while we were in pre-produciton. She got a snake in a box. I can’t remember if the snake came first. There was also a rat and the rat stuck around. The rat was a little mascot there for a while, got passed around a few households.”

Jai Courtney also confirmed that Margot Robbie seemed cool about the whole situation.

“She [Margot] was cool, I think the snake was pretty gnarly. I don’t know what the fate of the snake kinda became.”
