While there’s little word on who will be making the next James Bond movie and if Daniel Craig will return as titular spy, EON Productions is apparently looking to Dubrovnik, Croatia as a potential filming location for their twenty-fifth installment in the long-running spy franchise.

The James Bond fan site MI6-HQ is reporting one of the first major production update on the next movie starring Agent 007 since the film was announced. After nearly an entire year after EON Productions first courted the government of Croatia to use the city as a potential filming location, the mayor of the city finally confirmed that the James Bond movie was moving forward with filming in the city. According to the mayor, they were in “an advanced stage of negotiations” with EON Productions during a press conference about the recent filming of Lionsgate’s Robin Hood: Origins.

Dubrovnik has proven to be a popular filming location as of late, as the city was the site where several crucial sequences for Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi were filmed around this time last year. Dubrovnik is also one of the key places where Game Of Thrones is being filmed, with episodes set in King’s Landing, Qarth, and Slaver’s Bay featuring parts of the city or nearby locations in Croatia.

James Bond 25 is currently without a title or a confirmed star. It is not known who will produce the movie with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, as Columbia Pictures no longer has an exclusive license to distribute the property, although they still could if MGM needed them to. The movie is tentatively aiming to be released in 2018, but that may change depending on when filming actually begins.
