‘Bond 25’ Release Date Pushed Back 2 Months

Believe it or not, we are on the cusp of the 25th James Bond movie; however, it looks like we will have to wait a couple more months until the movie hits theaters.

This news comes to us from Deadline and during a time of shakeup for the 2020 release calendar. The currently untitled Bond 25 will now stir up Easter weekend, opening on April 8, 2020 instead of the initially announced Valentine’s Day 2020. The move comes off the heels of the news that Universal recently pushed back the release date for its ninth Fast and the Furious film from the same April weekend to May later that same year. Now with the powerhouse franchise moving off of that date, James Bond decided to make himself at home there.

The move is a show of confidence on the part of MGM. By pushing the film back into a more crowded and competitive springtime, the studio shows that they believe in their product and the team they have assembled together behind it.

This will be the longest gap between Daniel Craig James Bond films, but a vote of confidence is what the series needs right now. The last film in the franchise, Spectre, was not as well received critically or at the box office, grossing over $220 million less than its predecessor, Skyfall, which was one of the best received James Bond movies in both areas.

What do you make of this movie? Do you think it is in the best interest of the upcoming James Bond flick? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Production on the 25th James Bond film is set to begin on March 4, 2019, at Pinewood Studios. Details on the project are currently unknown, though it is set to be Daniel Craig’s final outing as 007 after having played the character in Casino RoyaleQuantum of Solace,Skyfall, and Spectre.

James Bond 25 is scheduled to be released in theaters on April 8, 2020.
