James Cameron To Reveal New ‘Avatar’ Theme Park Details In November

James Cameron’s Avatar has left an interesting legacy behind since it first hit theaters in 2009. Other than becoming the biggest blockbuster of all-time at the worldwide box office, the film has not endured in the pop culture conversation as much as other blockbusters have. Some may argue it is due to the film’s derivative storyline. Others may claim that the film was a case of style-over-substance.

I never revisited Avatar since I saw it in theaters back in 2009. Part of me is curious to give it a watch it again, but another part of me feels that much like Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity, Avatar was specifically created for the theatrical experience. But with that being said, I am excited to see what Cameron and Walt Disney Imagineering are bringing to the exciting new theme park experience, Pandora: The World of Avatar.

The new land, currently under construction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is set to open in 2017. James Cameron, along with producer Jon Landau and Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde will discuss the new 12-acre park during a panel for the upcoming D23 Destination D event, set to be held in November. There, new details from the upcoming land will be revealed – from new attractions, experiences, and more.

Even though Avatar hasn’t experienced the warmest reception since its release, I think fans should be excited at what Disney Imagineers are bringing to the table. Couple that with the visionary genius of James Cameron, then you got yourself something that will certainly be incredible. Meanwhile, you can find more details from the upcoming D23 event here.
