James Cameron Reveals New Title For ‘Terminator’ Sequel

James Cameron has officially revealed the working title for the long-awaited sixth installment of the Terminator franchise.

While speaking with Yahoo! Entertainment, James Cameron who returns to produce the film opened the sequel which features Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton reprising their iconic roles as the Terminator and Sarah Connor respectively. Not only did Cameron confirm Hamilton will be passing on the baton in the film to a new lead he also revealed what the project has been being referred to as while in production:

“We’re calling it, Terminator: Dark Fate. At least that’s our working title right now.”

Cameron also detailed how his one major condition for the film was that Arnold Schwarzenegger return as the T-800. He then went on to dish on how the previous two films affected Sarah Connor and what fans can expect from her character when she returns to the big screen:

“It’s hardened her, but in a way that made her much stronger,” Cameron says. “Maybe less likable, but stronger. And ultimately, she becomes a really important character in passing the baton to the new characters that come in. It’s a very female-centric film, which I’m glad Tim embraced those themes.”

So what do you think? Do you like the title Terminator: Dark Fate? Let us know in the comments below!

Deadpool helmer Tim Miller has directed the film from a script written by Billy Ray, David S. Goyer, Justin Rhodes, Josh Friedman, and Charles H. Eglee. The script was developed in a writers room to stand on its own while simultaneously forming an overarching storyline for what is planned to be a new trilogy of Terminator movies. James Cameron has returned to produce.

Terminator 6 will introduce newcomers Mackenzie Davis and Natalie Reyes, as well as Gabriel Luna (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) who plays a brand new Terminator in the film. Plot details remain under wraps, but the sixth Terminator film is a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day, ignoring all the other films in the franchise.

Terminator 6 stars Mackenzie Davis, Gabriel Luna, Natalia Reyes, Diego Boneta with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton as Sarah Conner. James Cameron returns to the franchise as a producer and conceived the story with Miller and Skydance’s David Ellison.

Terminator 6 will be released in theaters on November 1, 2019. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the sixth installment of the Terminator franchise as it develops!
