James Gunn Says He Would Never Direct An ‘Avengers’ Film

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has said that he would never direct an Avengers film for Marvel Studios.

Before the Russo Brothers signed on to direct what was originally Avengers: Infinity War parts one and two, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn was rumored to be the director of the two movies. Following Endgame, it’s unclear when the next Avengers film will come out, but Gunn is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to close out his Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.

The Russo Brothers have said that they would be open to directing another Avengers film, especially if it was following the Secret Wars storyline. During an Instagram Story Q&A, James Gunn was asked if he would ever do an Avengers film, to which he responded:

“I haven’t been asked, but I wouldn’t do it if I was.”

Is there another Marvel Studios film you would like to see James Gunn direct after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? Sound-off in the comments section below!

Here is the plot synopsis for Avengers: Endgame:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.

Avengers: Endgame is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we learn it and you can also subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content in the future!
